Our Story

Our story began in May 2019, before we had even met in person.

Elle was living in Wilmington, North Carolina, and preparing for a move across the country to Austin, Texas. While researching neighborhoods and trying to make a few connections before she arrived, she and Grant started talking. They soon realized they had a mutual friend, Elle’s coworker Riley, who gave Grant a glowing review.

Grant quickly became Elle’s unofficial Austin guide, answering questions about neighborhoods, restaurants, and life in Texas. By the time Elle packed up her life and drove to Austin that June, he had even helped her choose an apartment.

When she arrived, she sent him a photo with the message, “I’ve arrived!”

His response: “Well… when are we going on a date?”

Elle had barely unpacked and was still figuring out her new city, but Grant made a convincing case that helping choose her apartment had earned him at least one date.

So, in late June 2019, they went on their first date. Neither knew it yet, but it would also be their last first date.

From there, they were nearly inseparable. Their first years together were filled with UT football games, concerts, weekends with friends, a brief stretch of long distance between Austin and Houston, and, when COVID hit, Grant moving back into the very apartment he had helped Elle choose.

Their first trip together took them to Estes Park, Colorado, where they discovered a shared love of mountains, national parks, and traveling together. In 2021, they moved into their first house in Austin and soon after brought home Millie, who quickly became the center of their little family.

Over the years that followed, Austin became home. Together, they built careers, made lifelong friendships, traveled whenever they could, and became part of each other’s families, traditions, and favorite places.

Then, on April 26, 2025, after nearly six years together, Grant proposed on the frozen ice of Lake Louise in Canada. Surrounded by mountains that had become such a meaningful part of their story, they celebrated the beginning of their next chapter in Banff.

While we have fallen in love with many mountains along the way, we can’t imagine a more perfect place to exchange our vows than beneath the Tetons. We know Jackson is a journey for many of you, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone making the trip to celebrate with us in a place that means so much to us.

We can’t wait to have the people who have shaped our story together in one of our favorite places as we begin this next chapter.
